Engineering Co-op & Career Services

About ECCS

The Engineering Co-op and Career Services provides workshops, events, and appointments to help students find co-op jobs and jobs after graduating.  Students can take a co-op in 4, 8, 12, or 16 month terms but they must come back to school and attend. The co-op office provides all their services (with the exception of the job board)  to all students whether a student is enrolled in the Co-op program or not.

Who do I go to for help?

ECCS has Career Development and Relationship Managers who are designated to specific engineering programs, your CDRM will be your go to person for appointments, and work term support. They also have staff that are not specialized and can help with your LinkedIn profile, resumes and cover letters.

Co-op Designation (Not applicable for B.Tech)

To receive the co-op designation, you must complete 12 months of co-op placement before graduation. If you are enrolled in the Co-op program but you do not complete all 12 months it will not affect your eligibility to graduate. More information can be found here:

Co-op Related Fees

Being enrolled in the co-op program, you pay annual fees of $100 to pay for all the events, workshops and appointments that are offered to you through the ECCS office.  For registered work terms, the fee is $300.00 per 4 month co-op term (eg. 12 month co-op = $900.00). If you do not want to count the co-op towards your co-op designation, you do not need to register your co-op with the co-op office.

1EE0 & OscarPlus

If you are interested in pursuing a co-op, you must enroll in ENGINEER 1EE0. This course is worth zero units, it has no grades, it's only complete or not complete, and prepares you for applying for a co-op position. Once you have completed the co-op course then you get access to the OscarPlus job board where employers upload their co-op jobs that they have submitted to McMaster Engineering.

You can go to OscarPlus for the Career and Employer Event Calendar and to book appointments even if you haven’t completed 1EE0.
